spider plant, 2019

native to southern africa. can produce small white flowers on stalks.
i think i got this one around twenty-nineteen, no idea where. lives on my desk.

codieaum variegatum

croton, 2026

native to southeast asia, australia, and the pacific islands. can produce small white or yellow flowers.
i got her at the grocery store sometime in twenty-twenty-six. if i were sexually attracted to plants...it would be her.

maranta leuconeura

prayer plant, december 2025

native to the rainforests of central and south america. can produce small purple or white flowers.
my mum got me this one for christmas. for a while it lived on my dresser, but it seemed to be sad so i moved it to my bedroom windowsill. i think it gets too much light but it seems happier now. an amusing and dramatic plant

dieffenbachia camilla

native to south america.
i got this plant at canadian tire. i think it's a dieffenbachia camilla. the varieties seem similar to me so that's my best guess. it currently lives on my bedroom windowsill. whenever i look at it the word 'stately' comes to mind. unfortunately it is afflicted with bugs.

dracaena marginata

dragon tree, april 2016

native to madagascar. part of the asparagus family.
not sure if this one is the variety 'tricolor' or 'colorama'. my longest-lived plant. she grew a second stem around twenty-twenty-three, but i unfortunately killed it due to overwatering. a new stem has sprouted.

dracaena marginata 'magenta'

native to madagascar.
i got this one at the grocery store, chosen mostly for the fact that small clovers were growing in the same pot.

hoya carnosa 'dapple grey'

wax plant, 2025

native to east asia and australia. can produce clusters of white and pink star-shaped flowers.
i got a cutting of this from my math teacher at the time—thank you mr hiep. it grew very quickly during the summer of twenty-twenty five. lives on the dining table.

crassula ovata

jade plant, 2016

native to south africa. can produce small, star-shaped pink or white flowers.
i believe i got this one in twenty-sixteen. the large one has been struggling for a while. many of the branches have fallen off, so i have propogated them and as a result have two smaller ones, one of which is pictured.

pilea peperomiodes

chinese money plant / pancake plant, june 2026

native to southern china. can produce small white flowers.
another inexpensive tropical plant from the grocery store...i've been having a hard time controlling myself. there were two disctinct plants, so i separated them. one is on my bedroom windowsill, the other is on a table in the kitchen.

tradescantia pallida

purple heart, 2025

native to mexico. can produce small pink flowers.
another cutting from my old math teacher. since planting her, she has grown two more stems, and even had one bloom! at the time i didn't know it could grow flowers, so it was a wonderful surprise. lives in a hanging pot at the dining room window.

kalanchoe luciae

paddle plant / flapjack

native to south africa. can produce clusters of pale-yellow flowers.
these are a favourite of my grandma, so this type of plant has been in my life since i was a child. i have three at the moment. two of them are cuttings from my grandma, and the third, pictured here, i propogated myself.

dracaena trifasciata

snake plant, 2025

native to west africa. can produce small white flowers.
what i got originally was a different variety of snake plant from my old math teacher, but eventually this variety sprouted in the same pot. the original one nearly died and is in water right now.

syngonium podophyllum

arrowhead vine / nephthytis, june 2026

native to mexico and south america.
another plant from canadian tire. i feel like i am rescuing them. it is my duty. lives next to the toaster oven.
